Kung Hei Fat Choy means Happy New Year!  This year, Chinese New Year begins February 12. It is the Year of the Ox  The Oxis the second of the animals which appears in the Chinese zodiac in the Chinese calendar. There are 12 animals that are in the Chinese Zodiac.  In this post, your students can celebrate other cultures with Chinese New Year. I've also provided a fun Game board FREEBIE. Did you know that nine Asian countries celebrate the Lunar New year? Celebrate the Mexican Culture With Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo is celebrated every year on May 5th. In Texas, there are festivals all over the state. Cinco de Mayo marks the victory of the Mexican militia over the French Army in the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It is not Mexican Independence Day, which is September 16. As Easy as Pi with Lapbooks

To celebrate Pi Day, I'm sharing some of my classroom resources that help make learning a little easier. I love creating interactive lapbooks because students are always so engaged with their learning during a unit of study.

Teaching With Interactive Lapbooks

I started creating interactive notebooks and lapbooks last spring and I never knew I would have such  an overwhelming response by teachers.

Interactive lapbooks are similar to interactive notebooks but are used for specific units. They are so easy to create and the students love them. The unit can last one or two weeks. And, this is a great way to teach the research process to share what students have learned about the subject. It's also a perfect way to differentiate in the classroom. Students take pride in their work and truly extend their learning. They are proud of their products and love sharing their work.
