Assessing Students During Project Based Learning

Do you wonder how to go about assessing students during project based learning? One big reason teachers shy away from implementing the unit is not knowing how to assess students. Because a project based learning unit spans several weeks or even months, it's important to assess students throughout the unit. Assessment can be formal like we typically use during a regular classroom environment. But, for the most part, it can be informal.

Assessment can be helpful during a project based learning unit by letting us know if students are learning the skills and if they understand the purpose of the unit. We also want to make sure the unit isn't straying in a non-productive direction. In this post, I'll provide different ways we can assess our students during a project based learning unit.
